Sky Cards have talked before about Sky TV dab-ling in other areas of the entertainment market and tapping into emerging markets.The latest product from Sky seems to be the new Sky Songs web site, after Sky Cards initial research it seems that this looks like a competitor to the current successes of products like Itunes and others.
Since the move away from the purchasing of physical CD’S there has been an explosion of e-records, songs purchased then downloaded directly on to a PC and it has proven to be a lucrative market, sky look to be jumping on the bandwagon and are currently marketing the product Sky Songs on it’s own Sky TV channels, so they are getting great brand exposure with low advertising costs.
We a Sky Cards reckon that this is the first in a number of steps Sky TV are taking to further improve the quality of the entertainment it provides by possibly in the future merging the various products it offers in to a single entertainment package this has become evident already with the Sky’s attempt and success in dominating the Broadband and Phone markets.
This is just a theory but we at Sky Cards know from looking into the past that media companies need to constantly adapt to compete with each other, and Sky are currently at the top of their game.
