Sky Cards have been doing some research lately about the possibility of sending record commands to you Sky box, so if you forget to record something you can still do it if you are out and about.Its old news the fact that you can text your Sky box with a command in a certain syntax and it will record your desired programme if it is half an hour or more before the start.

Well in fact you are not texting your Sky box directly you text a standard Sky number 61759 then Sky send the instructions to you r Sky box to record the appropriate programme via you phone line, so you must have the Sky box connected to a valid phone line.

The syntax for the text is;

Channel (name or number). Date DD/MM. Time HH:HH

So for example;

Sky news. 04/12. 09:00

Notice the . (dot) in between each part, this is important so the Sky computer can separate the channel from the date and the time.

If you don’t want to mess around with texts and you have an android mobile phone like the HTC G1 or HTC Hero you can install an application on to your phone which allows you to search through programming and select what you want to record, makes it a bit easier and quicker than a text and it’s pretty cool!
