If you’re having trouble with your wireless remote not working with your Roku box, you may need to re-pair it to your device.
To reconnect your remote, follow the steps below:
Check the Batteries
It is not uncommon for standard alkaline batteries in your remote to lose power and require replacing. To do this, slide and unclip the rear battery panel from you Roku remote and replace the batteries with the correct type, ensuring that the batteries have been inserted the right way around.
Remote Pairing
Once you have a fresh set of alkaline batteries in your Roku remote, make sure it is correctly paired with your Roku devices.
Open the rear battery panel on the remote and then press and hold the small pairing button. Only release the button when you see a green flashing light.
Depending on the model of remote you have, the green flashing light will either be next to the pairing button inside the battery compartment or, it will be near the base of the remote on the front.
Whilst the light is flashing, keep a close eye on your TV screen. Within a few moments, you should see the “Roku Enhanced Remote pairing…” screen displayed on your television.
Once pairing has completed, try your remote and it should now work as normal.
Power Cycling the Roku Device & Remote
If the above process did not solve your Roku remote problems, you may need to try power cycling both the Roku set top box and the remote control.
First, disconnect the Roku box from the power supply by unplugging the power adapter from the mains socket and by disconnecting the power jack at the rear of the box.
And now remove the batteries from the back of the remote.
Next, plug the Roku player back into the power supply by reconnecting the power adapter to the mains and the power cable to the rear of the box.
When you see the Roku logo on your TV screen indicating the box is booting, replace the batteries back into the remote control.
Keep an eye on your television for the “Roku Enhanced Remote pairing…” screen. if you don’t see that screen, press and hold the pairing button at the back of the remote and release once the flashing green light can be seen.
You should then see the “Roku Enhanced Remote pairing…” screen and you should have successfully paired your remote to your Roku player.
Try your remote and you should be ready to start enjoying entertainment from your Roku box once again.
